Freeriding and off-piste
Endless slopes full of powder snow, peaks that no cable car leads up to and the finest powder that ideally no other freerider has seen yet: off-piste skiing is the discipline for anyone who does not get enough of a kick out of the prepared slopes. The Skicircus also has a big heart for freestylers too, as proved by the numerous snow parks and other fun attractions.
Since the Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang was extended to Fieberbrunn in Tyrol fans of off-piste skiing have many more reasons to be happy. With countless freeriding and off-piste runs in every exposition, the Skicircus is considered to be a freeriding Mecca par excellence.
The first steps and turns in the backcountry
If the backcountry is new ground for you and you would prefer to have your first off-piste experience with a professional simply contact the ski schools in Saalbach and Hinterglemm. There you are individually supervised by experienced guides in small groups and will soon master your first line as a result.
Together with certified ski instructors and mountain guides you not only learn the correct technique but also everything to do with safety and the risks in terrain away from the prepared slopes. How to handle the avalanche transceiver and sensor correctly and how to assess the snow conditions are all part of the basics for every skier who wants to explore off-piste. You also have to constantly keep an eye on the avalanche warning reports.
