Skiing in Saalbach-Hinterglemm

Endless slopes full of powder snow, peaks that no cable car leads up to and the finest powder that ideally no other freerider has seen yet: off-piste skiing is the discipline for anyone who does not get enough of a kick out of the prepared slopes. The Skicircus also has a big heart for freestylers too, as proved by the numerous snow parks and other fun attractions.

Since the Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang was extended to Fieberbrunn in Tyrol fans of off-piste skiing have many more reasons to be happy. With countless freeriding and off-piste runs in every exposition, the Skicircus is considered to be a freeriding Mecca par excellence.

The first steps and turns in the backcountry

If the backcountry is new ground for you and you would prefer to have your first off-piste experience with a professional simply contact the ski schools in Saalbach and Hinterglemm. There you are individually supervised by experienced guides in small groups and will soon master your first line as a result.

Together with certified ski instructors and mountain guides you not only learn the correct technique but also everything to do with safety and the risks in terrain away from the prepared slopes. How to handle the avalanche transceiver and sensor correctly and how to assess the snow conditions are all part of the basics for every skier who wants to explore off-piste. You also have to constantly keep an eye on the avalanche warning reports.

Have you already acquired the necessary skills and are you looking for the best downhill runs where professionals go into raptures in the Saalbach-Hinterglemm ski resort? Then you should definitely take a look at the following runs:

Freeriding in Fieberbrunn

Magical deep snow slopes open up all around the town of Fieberbrunn on the Tyrolean side of the Skicircus thanks to the new lift link. The area is considered to be a snow ditch and therefore provides higher snow depths.

Nightpark in Hinterglemm

It's all happening at the Nightpark by the Unterschwarzachbahn cable car near the village centre of Hinterglemm day and night. The huge snow park entices with different easy, medium and pro lines, kickers and rails, alongside variety-packed obstacles such as a gap kicker, spine, wallride as well as rails and boxes. The highlights are the 22 metre long combi box and the 9 metre long C-rail: the most wonderful playground for all freeskiers and boarders.

Other snow parks await you with the NITRO snow park in Leogang and the Easy Park in Fieberbrunn.

As if that wasn't enough fun: snow trails are scattered throughout the entire ski resort with speedy wave runs, steep bends and jumps. Besides this, fun cross, the ski movie run, speed check route and snowtubing run in Hinterglemm also provide action.
